BIOGRAPHY
Choral conductor, music educator and multi-instrumentalist Ezra Burke is appreciated for his collaborative spirit, gentle leadership, sincere music making and sense of humour. Having completed his Masters in Choral Conducting in Toronto and pursuing professional opportunities in Canada, Ezra returned to his home in London, England. His background in Music and Education studies at the University of Cambridge and postgraduate degree in Creative Producing from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama inform his current positions as Music Teacher at Fitzjohn’s Primary School, Musical Director of Belsize Community Choir and co-conductor of Camden Youth Choir, and recent position as Head of Music (Maternity Cover) at Arnold House School.
An experienced primary and secondary school music teacher, chorister, and ensemble musician (with guitar, piano and percussion amongst his instruments), Ezra is currently focused on developing his skills in choral leadership. During his most recent studies, Ezra was Assistant Conductor of both the University of Toronto Men’s Chorus and the Scarborough Dukes of Harmony Barbershop Chorus, but since graduation Ezra was appointed 2018-2020 Associate Conductor of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and took up conducting the Beth Tzedec Synagogue Choir. He lead a new choir, the ‘Seraphic Singers’, within the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church Choir School in 2019-2020; taught Music and Movement with Sistema Toronto; and was a singer and occasional conductor with the Kingsway-Lambton United Church Choir. He was also a proud member of Dr. Mark Ramsay’s Exultate Chamber Singers, who were to sing at Podium in Montreal in 2020.
